P. S. Art 2025 is a heartwarming and inspiring annual exhibition that honors the artistic achievements of exceptional students from New York City public schools, ranging from prekindergarten to grade 12. Now in its twenty-third year and hosted for the eighteenth consecutive year at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this juried exhibition presents 137 outstanding artworks selected from nearly 1,000 submissions. These works — collages, drawings, mixed-media creations, paintings, photographs, prints, and sculptures — come from students representing all five boroughs of New York City as well as District 75, a specialized district serving students with disabilities.

Each piece on display is a testament to the young artists’ active engagement in the creative process, demonstrating their ability to thoughtfully choose media, observe their surroundings with a keen eye, and apply a deep understanding of artistic techniques. The exhibition provides a vivid window into the journeys of these students as they explore questions, make discoveries, and develop their creative voices from early childhood through young adulthood.

Central to this vibrant artistic landscape are the supportive and committed art educators who play an indispensable role in nurturing student creativity. Their encouragement fosters not only artistic skills but also vital social and emotional growth. By guiding students to observe the world and express their unique perspectives through art, teachers cultivate imagination and technical proficiency through continuous engagement and tailored instruction across years of study. This underscores the importance of robust and ongoing arts education to the flourishing of young creators.

The partnership between New York City Public Schools, Studio in a School, and The Met demonstrates a shared dedication to celebrating and supporting youth expression through the arts. The exhibition is generously accessible to the public at The Met’s Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, inviting all to experience the remarkable creativity flourishing within New York City’s diverse student communities.
